Another win for Ms. Strong. A great start for the series with strong likeable characters. The story with the elements kind of reminds me of the Nickelodeon cartoon the avatar (NOT the kid movie). Sara is an awesome underdog who's comes into her own power...and it is ALOT of power...but i loved how it didn't change the core of who she was. She didn't let the absolutely terrible way her people treated her corrupt her as a person and still stood her own and knew her worth as a partner for lucien.Lucien was typical hot alpha male with wanting to keep his mate covered in bubble wrap and protected from harm but gradually begin to see that far from being a princess needing a savior, Sara was a queen and had it handled.
Check this and the other elemental books out..you won't regret it.

I have only just begun getting into romance novels and this book is one of the reasons why! It is detailed and has a uniqueness to it that will capture your attention and keep it the whole time! She is becoming one of my personally favorite authors.
I have read most of the books from this series, except for the last installment of the series. Although I did like the book and the play between fire and the vampire cooling it, it is not one of my favorites. I do not wish to compare the books in the series because they are all unique (and this was the first book) but the characters could have been slightly more developed. Still it is a good read.
Although this is an interesting story concept, this author has done it a terrible disservice with her poor grammar and almost complete lack of punctuation. The errors are distracting and detracting. The innumerable mistakes make the book nearly unreadable. Please get someone else to edit your books, Ms. Alli!
Great world building. Wonderful female character. Too often in these stories the female is overly noble. Love how this heroine said "screw you guys" to the village that treated her so badly and instead went out and sought out her own destiny. I took off half a star as I didn't feel like male lead was as complex in character as he could have been, but nonetheless, really enjoyed the writing which quickly absorbed me into this magical world.
This was a fast, sexy little read, though I did skim through the somewhat predictable ending. I don't know if it's because it was a kindle version, but the grammar was awful. Lots of run-on sentences and typos. I was able to get past those once I got into the flow of it. The biggest complaint is how there seemed to be no rules in the fantasy world. Each character obtained whatever powers they needed, conveniently. The sex scenes were pretty hot though, which was fun. I don't think I'll read any more by this author.
This story, as far as the plot goes, deserves a glowing 5 stars. I truly loved reading it.
However, I just can't give it 5 stars because of some glaring problems. As some other reviewers have mentioned, there are grammatical errors. Most of the time it does not take away from your understanding of the story, but they are distracting with how often you run in to them.
Also, I just HAVE to make this comment. Out of all the reviews I read, NO ONE mentioned this the author is inconsistent with the character names from one book to the next! In this novel, the host of Calder (the water spirit) is referred to as Conner. In "Submerged in Ecstasy", the book about the Son of Water, he is named Gabriel. What?
Every book that I've read by Jennifer Alli had been fantastic beyond all expectation! I really like the story line and the characters are fantastic! Lucien's growth and change throughout the book was wonderful and I was very pleased that Sara was as stopping as she was. It isn't extremely often that the heroine in novella such as this one are as self reliant as Sara is. Their relationship is fabulous! There is such understanding and love to make it heartwarming
