This short story does an excellent job of painting beautiful mental images as the sentences flow. The story was very intriguing and very well written, especially for a new author! When I thought I was predicting where the story was going, I was corrected and impressed at the creativity of the twists. Not a clique, but instead a unique viewpoint not previously done. I would have never known Aubrey was inexperienced if it wasn't stated in her bio. She has a clear gift and I am SO excited for and eagerly awaiting her novel expected to be published in February of this year!Product details

Two Golden Keys eBook Aubrey Hadley Alia Moore Reviews
What an amazing short read! Love how the author is descriptive yet gets to the point. Awesome read, I would highly recommend for all ages.
What could have been a good short story was marred in its telling by the author's use of the wrong tense - "use" instead of "used", and made-up words, such as " ponderment". She also described her character's eyes as "flexing", instead of dilating, and " bending" instead of looking down. Perhaps she thought these descriptions were inventive, but they actually sounded ignorant and detracted from the story.
Ms. Hadley has taken the classic fairy tale scenario - complete with medieval castle and singing birds - and turned it on its head!
In this short story, written in classic second-person narrative, we follow Victoria, our "princess" archetype, as she "wakes up" to a reality that she didn't know would come along with "Happily-Ever-After."
The characters are all cast in the stereotypical roles that one might expect to find in a fairy tale. However, we go deeper into our "princess's" head as she struggles to untangle the sequence of events that lead her to find that "keeping up appearances" involves more than her once sticky-sweet innocence can comprehend.
This is a GREAT read as a satire -of sorts- for those who might have been disillusioned or misled by fairy tales. That said...DON'T read this out loud to your young children at bedtime! But for you... this could be seen as your adult-child's would-be antithetic revenge >)
The story is short, but it packs a lot of intrigue, drama, and suspense. The author writes great dialogue, and manages to create an entire world and fully developed characters in just over 30 pages. It was a quick read, and I would love to visit the Kingdom of Rubiton again (as a reader... definitely not as a tourist)!
Wow! What an interesting story! I read it in one sitting. It pulls you through with intrigue and suspense. After I finished reading the surprise ending, I was still sorting through different aspects of the tale that were relating back to parts of the story that weren't so obvious. It'll make you think!
